The first time
Four steps, once.
- Open SiftMac.dmg and drag SiftMac onto the Applications folder next to it.
- Open SiftMac. It isn’t notarized by Apple yet, so macOS asks you to confirm once: click Done, then go to System Settings › Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway. On macOS 14 you can also Control-click SiftMac in Applications and choose Open.
- Turn on Full Disk Access when the welcome screen asks; its button opens the right page in Settings. It’s optional, but without it SiftMac can’t see Desktop, Documents, Downloads, the Trash or Mail and Messages attachments. It reads names, sizes and dates only, never the text of your emails or messages.
- Scan, read the verdicts, clean. Your first 2 GB of cleaning is free. When you want more, buy a licence once.
