Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and Mohit Nippanikar (“we”), the maker of the SiftMac app (“SiftMac”). By downloading, installing or using SiftMac, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use SiftMac.
- Scanning and reviewing are free. Your first 2 GB of cleaning is free; after that, SiftMac is a one-time purchase of $19 for up to 2 Macs.
- SiftMac removes files you choose. Some go straight away, others wait on the Undo Shelf first. Please review what’s picked, and keep a backup.
- 14-day refunds, no questions asked. See the Refund Policy.
1. Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use SiftMac. Without a licence key you may scan, review and clean up to 2 GB in total. A licence key lets you clean without limit on up to 2 Macs that you own or control, and includes the updates we release for SiftMac. You can move a key to another Mac by deactivating it in Settings › Licence.
You may not share, sell or publish licence keys, try to get around the licence check, or resell or redistribute SiftMac. You may not reverse engineer SiftMac except as far as the law allows.
2. What SiftMac does to your files
SiftMac is a tool for freeing disk space. It shows you what it found, with a verdict on each item, and removes only what you pick (or, if you turn it on, what the scheduled clean picks: app caches only).
- Removed straight away: app caches, logs, temporary files, and developer and AI caches and build folders, which apps and tools make again. Docker items and simulators are removed with Docker’s and Xcode’s own tools.
- Kept on the Undo Shelf first: downloads, apps, duplicates, large files, old chats, device backups, attachments, leftovers and the Trash. They stay for the number of days you choose (7, 14 or 30) and can be put back; after that they are deleted permanently.
- Optional permissions (Full Disk Access, Automation, an administrator password for apps an administrator installed) are asked for by macOS, in its own windows, and only used for the features that need them.
You are responsible for reviewing what is picked before you clean, and for keeping backups of anything important (for example with Time Machine). SiftMac’s verdicts are our best judgement, not a guarantee that an item is safe to remove on your Mac.
3. Payment
Purchases are processed by Dodo Payments, which acts as the Merchant of Record and seller: it handles payment, invoicing and sales taxes, and its terms also apply to the purchase. Prices are shown at checkout. SiftMac is a one-time purchase: there is no subscription and nothing renews.
4. Updates
SiftMac checks siftmac.com for updates and installs them when you agree. Updates may add, change or remove features. We may in future sell a new major version separately; your licence keeps working with the versions it covers.
5. No warranty
SiftMac is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including that SiftMac will be error-free, or fit for a particular purpose.
6. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss of data, files, profits or business, or for any indirect or consequential loss, arising from your use of SiftMac. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for SiftMac. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer protection law that cannot be limited, including under India’s Consumer Protection Act, 2019.
7. Ending the licence
You can stop using SiftMac at any time. If you break these terms, or a purchase is refunded or charged back, your licence key stops working. Sections 5 to 9 continue to apply after the licence ends.
8. Third-party software and trademarks
SiftMac includes Sparkle (MIT licence) for updates, and the Doto and Geist fonts (SIL Open Font Licence); their licences come with the app. Mac and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc. SiftMac is not made by, affiliated with or endorsed by Apple, or by any of the apps whose files it lists.
9. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes will be handled by the courts in India, unless the consumer law of your country gives you the right to bring a claim where you live. Please email us first: most problems are quick to fix.
10. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and continuing to use SiftMac after a change means you accept it. Questions: support@siftmac.com.
